The creation of 101.3, Future Seeds took place during a workshop lead by LFDT Director, Wynn Holmes, on May 2, 2021 as part of the Expanded Workshop Series hosted by the CCOV and LeParc. Titled 101.3, Who Says So, this workshop marked the beginning of the process, articulation, and creation of the fourth act within LFDTLAB’s 101 Series – an ongoing process-based performance project that explores the LFDTCLASS structure in different performance settings with each act informed by a different theme or idea. Rooted in the experimental and DIY ethos, this series was founded in the spirit of making work under any and all circumstances – challenging the rules of engagement by working with artists and audiences in making dance, performance, and art happen when, where, and however we can.

The prompts/wishes/new rules/seed names found in the transcript are offerings from workshop participants which have been compiled into a manifesto. Also included is an introduction from French food artist and designer, Céline Pelcé, which was written a couple of weeks after the workshop took place. Céline and LFDT have been collaborating from a distance this past year – between Paris and New York – and this exercise was greatly inspired by our ongoing project research.

Some participants joined from their homes via zoom, while a small group attended in person at the studio of the CCOV, located at Place des Arts in Tiohtià:ke/Montreal. We would like to thank all of the workshop participants and Céline for their generous offerings and extend our gratitude to Hanako Hoshimi-Caines, Nate Yaffe, Lucy Fandel, and Angélique Willkie for both the warm welcome into the CCOV studios and their thoughtful interactions and contributions during the workshop.
