Body, City, Identity: A Movement Meditation on Modern Life  |  2019

Has modern city life necessitated an inner battle to define and maintain personal individuality?

101.1 sees five dancers perform LFDTCLASS framework through the lens of Georg Simmel’s 1903 essay, ‘The Metropolis and Mental Life’, and questions how action, disorder, and noise contribute to the social life of the city. This work is both a performance and workshop open to the public. LFDT partnered with N10.as, an internet radio station broadcasting from Montreal, Québec, to create a soundtrack to this work that aired in real time so that anyone, anywhere could tune into the audio portion of the work.

101.1 / The Metropolis and Mental Life premiered at Festival Quartier Danse, Montréal, Québec, September 2019

Performed at Auditorium Antoine-De-Saint-Exupéry, Montréal, Québec, February 2020
